Are Supply Chain Data Analysts More Valuable than Ever?

Back in 2006, an independent Morgan-Stanley survey showed that consultants are able to achieve discounts 49% lower than companies that negotiate their shipping rates on their own. Today, most economists agree that companies that perform high-level data analyses and can prove where companies deserve incentives are even more valuable than they were in years past, and will continue to thrive through at least 2013.

What do you think? Is it more important than ever to work with a third party solutions provider that specializes in high-level data analytics in order to achieve better rates?

  1. Analytics will be more important, but it might not be possible to negotiate as well with third parties since UPS and FedEx are no longer being as lenient.
